Developers and operators from the Southeast will present case studies of various models - master leased, renter-initiated hosting, corporate rentals and lease-up period hotels. The goal of the session is to leave with a localized understanding of the revenue potential and operational challenges of this new business model.

Innovation Implementation Deep Dive - Smart Home
We want conference attendees to leave with a clearer understanding of the step-by-step requirements of implementing new technology. In this session, a smart home company will briefly present its offering to a risk manager, a senior multifamily operator or developer. The panelists will critique the product, process, contract, project management, security and other concerns that emerge during due diligence. The presenting company will be supported by a client that has already implemented the solution and can address the concerns of the evaluators with their own hard-won experience.

Great Human Experiences without Technology
Innovation isn't just technology and software. Apps and wifi aren't the only things residents value. Connectedness, health, fitness, engagement and community can be key improvements - for residents and associates - in properties that lack them. Presenters will share program ideas for soft amenities that create goodness without silicon chips and instruction manuals.

Not a High-rise - Amenity Solutions for Affordable and Workforce Housing
90% of multifamily communities are not Class A, infill high-rises. Most technology and amenity solutions target the wealthiest demographics and are not viable in middle-income family communities. Our goal with this session is to highlight amenity services and conveniences that differentiate living for the mass of renters.

Demographics, Politics and Trends
Long-term wages are flattening for most of America. Dollar General stores are outpacing the creation of all other retail. High-income, highly-skilled workers can work anywhere on the globe. Rent control initiatives are on the rise and part of the conversation in presidential politics. Can a market researcher or economist create an understandable narrative around all of this? What does it mean for the near future of investing in and operating multifamily communities across the United States?
